Vinted Members Voice Displeasure Over Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
